Depending on the purpose of your site and the kind of
visitors you want to attract and entertain, an interactive
story page could very well help you reach your goals.
Your story page need not be limited to just stories.
Here are a few ideas:
-
Obviously, your page can be an interactive story page,
where your visitors take turns developing a story.
The stories can be children's themes or adult.
-
It can be used as a public journal, where your
visitors make daily or weekly entries about their
experiences with a specific person, product, or other
common theme.
-
It can be a suggestion board that your visitors use
for a specific purpose.
-
You might even use it as a news center, where only
you can update it.
Some features you may want for your program are:
-
Free flow style.
-
Limited choices on what happens next.
-
Require name and/or email.
-
Admin section to edit/delete submissions.
-
Email notification when program is used.
-
Activity logging (user's IP number, etc.)
-
Specific IP blocking.
-
Blocking offensive words and phrases.
-
Multiple story capability.
There are many fine script download sites on the internet.
I chose CGI Resource Index at http://cgi-resources.com/
for today's short list of free interactive story scripts.
Other download sites may have different or more choices.
A great place to find links to quality script download
sites is the "Programming & Scripts -- CGI" section of
the http://webmastersdirectory.com/ Webmaster's Directory.
Here are some interactive story scripts:
If none of the above are exactly what you want, you can
search other script download sites. The Webmaster's
Directory mentioned above is a great place to start.
Visitor interaction can benefit most sites. Offering
interactive stories is one way to accomplish that.
Happy story hosting!
