If your site is more than several pages, you can probably benefit from a site search engine. The clearer your navigation, the less your visitors have need of a site search engine. But even so, your visitors will probably appreciate your consideration. The larger your site, the harder it is to include everything in your navigation area and still keep it clear. A site search engine could be a real blessing for your visitors. If you have hesitated to install your own site search engine because of the complicated setup, now is the time to grab a copy of Master Search. Setup is a breeze. Just install the program like any Perl script. (Actually, even this part is easier than many Perl scripts.) The program has a built-in control panel, with built-in help files. Use the control panel to specify which directories should be included in the search. Specify the types of files you want searched. You can even specify which files you want excluded from the search. (The download page has a link to a demo control panel with live help files. See for yourself how easy it is.) The help files include a "copy and paste" form you can use. All you have to edit is the URL to your installed copy of Master Search. You can let Master Search use its default search results page. Or you can design your own. The help files tell you how. Master Search searches entire pages. Whenever there is a match, only the linked page title is added to the results page. Searches are live. In other words, when you change a page it is searchable immediately. Results are simple and clean. Download is quick. Setup is easy.
