We have received several requests for an attachment version of Master Feedback, a version that will upload a file from a visitor's computer and send it the site webmaster as an email attachment. Note that Master Feedback AV has the same anti-spam features as Master Feedback. However, Master Feedback AV might be abused in other ways. Email attachments received from your form can be just as dangerous as malicious email attachments you might receive through other channels. A virus is a virus, whether sent from an email program or via a form on your web site. The same file can be transmitted either way. There can be a difference in motive, though. Many viruses transmitted via email attachments are broadcast by the virus itself. The person who's software is enabling the virus might be unaware that s/he is doing the damage. Attachments sent to you via a form on your website, on the other hand, are always sent knowingly and intentionally. Infected files may be rare, but it is possible to receive them whether or not senders are aware of the volatile payload. Always exercise caution with email attachments. Master Feedback AV allows you to specify file name extensions that you will *not* accept from the form. This can block some executables from being sent to you as attachments. Master Feedback AV sends the message portion of the email as plain text. Unless your email program is unusual, JavaScript and HTML sent as part of the message won't be executed. Another protective measure that Master Feedback AV provides is the ability to specify the maximum file size that you will accept. This can eliminate abuse from extremely large files. With the release of Master Feedback AV, you now have the means to let your visitors and clients upload files that will be emailed to you as an attachment.
